Volunteerstays.com provides an international listing of Volunteers and Stays for the purpose of introducing travellers and hosts for short-term work exchanges. A bit of honest work in exchange for food and shelter and a friendly local experience is what this is about.
In general, a Stay will provide meals and accommodation (1-3 meals a day) in return for 4-5 hours of work* per day (about 20 hours per week) from the Volunteer. Stays may also provide additional perks such as free internet, laundry, language lessons, use of kayaks or bikes, and local excursions. Each Stay is unique. Some may offer live-in accommodation with the host family, a separate guesthouse, or lodging in a hostel, sailboat, or beach hut.
We provide a place for people to browse each other's profiles, and initiate contact with one another. We will never share your personal email address on our website, and you can control and edit the privacy settings on your profile to determine how much personal information you want to share. You are under no obligation to reply to messages, and your travel and stay arrangements are your own.
While the focus is on introducing Volunteers and Stays for working vacations, we also provide a Travel Partners service to connect volunteers with one another.
Creating a profile is free and so is searching for hosts and volunteers/travel partners. If you wish to contact anyone, you will need a Premium Membership. Stays are automatically upgraded to Premium Membership status. Volunteers can upgrade to a Premium Membership for a small donation. Your donations offset the costs of running this website.
As a Volunteer, you probably have an idea of where you want to go. You can use our search engine to find stays in those countries. If you're particularly interested in certain activities, such as working with animals or crewing on a sailboat, you can search for those as well.
As a Stay, you may be looking for helpers (Volunteers) travelling to your country in search of specific work experience. You can use our search engine to find volunteers that match your criteria.
Note that we do not ensure the accuracy of the information presented by our members. We ask that everyone be as honest and detailed as possible with their profiles and we reserve the right to remove out of date or inappropriate listings.
We have a Feedback system for Stays and Volunteers to leave testimonials about their experience with one another. We hope this will provide some additional value for our members.
