Welcome to the Volunteers area of our website. In general, a Volunteer offers 4 hours of work per day (about 20 hours per week) in exchange for meals and accommodation (1-3 meals a day) from a Stay. Volunteers come from all walks of life: they are budget travellers, backpackers, gap year students, retirees, skilled professionals on extended leave, and even teachers on sabbatical. They may be volunteering in order to learn a language, reduce the cost of travelling, acquire a new skill, enjoy a unique cultural experience, or do something meaningful with their time and energy. Each Volunteer is unique with a variety of skills and interests. Be sure to read the Volunteer’s profile, and make sure it matches what you’re looking for, including travel dates and languages spoken. Note that Volunteers accept Stay requests and Travel Partners at their discretion. Anyone can browse but you must have a Premium Membership to Contact a Volunteer/Travel Partner.
Given below is not a real profile, just an example of one. You can search for real profiles here.

Hi! My name is Nadja and I’m a student at the University of Alberta specializing in Environmental Sciences. I’m planning to backpack across Europe this summer but I don’t have any definite plans at this point. I said I’m travelling to Spain, etc. but I’d be willing to go just about anywhere if the right opportunity came up. I’m an experienced traveller, hardworking, energetic, and easy to get along with. I can provide references if you like. I’d prefer a Stay outside the city but nothing too remote.
Oh, you would probably never guess this about me, but I grew up on a farm. I’m very comfortable working with horses and animals and can drive all kinds of vehicles and do small repairs. Another little known fact: I knit toques for the homeless in my spare time.
I’m looking for a Travel Partner. I’d prefer a girl my own age, someone easy going and also travelling on a tight budget. I plan to so some volunteer work, stay at hostels and maybe do some camping and hiking. I have a two person tent and cooking gear. Contact me and we can make a plan!
I’m good with animals, technology, and I can type 45 WPM.
